Step 2: You will now work right to left around the hoop. Note: The two-bead stacks will be counted as first, second, third, etc., from this side around. Square-stitch the first two sets of beads together to stabilize them. Weave through the beads so that you exit from the fourth two-bead stack.
Step 3: Work a picot edging off of the stacks. Begin by stringing 1 B, passing through the loop between the fourth and fifth stacks, and back through the bead just strung. *String 2 B, pass through the loop between the next two stacks, and back through the last bead just strung. Repeat from * three times. String 6 B, skip one loop, pass through the loop between the next two stacks, and back through the last two beads just strung. Repeat this step in reverse to weave the other side of the earring (Figure 2).
Step 4: Now work left to right around the hoop in peyote stitch. Note: The picot edging âpointâ beads will be counted as first, second, third, etc., from this side around. String 1 B and pass through the first point bead. *String 1 B and pass through the next point bead. Repeat from * twice. String 3 B and pass through the fourth point bead of the next picot. String 1 B, 1 A, 1 B, and pass through the first point bead of the next picot. String 3 B and pass through the point bead of the next picot. *String 1 B and pass through the next point bead. Repeat from * three times (Figure 2).
Step 5: Weave through all beads to reinforce the work. Donât pull the thread too tight or the beadwork will curl. Work gently over the gaps. If they bother you, stitch a bead between them. Knot the thread between the beads, pass through a few more, and trim the thread.
Step 6: If you wish, add a dangle to the center of the hoop. Begin by using a head pin to string an assortment of accent beads that will fit pleasingly in the center of the hoop. Make a wrapped loop to secure them and set the dangle aside.
String seed beads and/or accent beads along the hoop until you can add the dangle. The accent beads should hold the dangle in place.
Step 7: Repeat Steps 1â6 for the second earring.
